Water

On my long drive to the elementary school this morning I looked out my window as I crossed over a small bridge. In the wide expanse of the Meramec River I fixed my eyes on the dark and dappled waters. The gloomy skies and light drizzle of the river made the waters seem so deep and rich. I noticed a small area where there were swirling circles of water. I thought of the defiant churning below the surface that would bring such a change of direction from the rest of the river's natural flow. It's change of direction seemed like such determination. Even in all it's dismal and dark appearance I had a feeling of awe. The rest of the drive I was completely at peace.
