While fastening the pearl bauble                                                        

to finish her holiday raiment

she glances into

the mirror

and her soul whispers

content.

Dressed modestly in vogue apparel

with demure elegance she enters

with quiet poise

where blinking festivities

and crashing sounds 

stir.

Eyes turn to catch a glimpse

of her perfect carriage

of laughter and meekness

while she, unaware, engages

inaudibly soft with

kindness.

Others clamor and blare, entangled in opulence

and screaming, to claim the center stage

with deliberate movement

and perfect awareness

they curry favors with 

emptiness.

The competing sounds of overindulgence

and insecurity, though piercing and proud

are lost and muffled

to her sounds of ease

and peaceful 

stillness.

And her soul whispers

content.
