I know that the sands that I allow in my life will bring me sorrow. They are the empty, shaky things of this world. They are the time consuming things that keep me from doing better things. They are the anger and pride I display. The sand is what keeps me from all I want for eternity.
Whereas the Rock...it is the only way to experience real joy, real peace and real love. It will heal my weaknesses and sooth my pains. The Rock is the way to gain all that I want for eternity...my family and life with my Father in Heaven.
I wonder where is my house built?
I wonder how many times I get the foundation on the rock and then start putting the joists and bearers together with the dust-blown sand.
I wonder if half of my house is on the rock and the other is on the sand.
I don't want to be in that kind of house.
That's not who I want to be.
I want my whole house on the Rock.
This song has been on my mind all day. In my mind I can see my three little girls standing and singing the song with the hand motions of the song synchronized perfectly among them. They are pleased with the song that they have learned and can share with me. They are smiling and looking at each other. I love that memory.
The wise man built his house upon the rock
The wise man built his house upon the rock
The wise man built his house upon the rock
And the rain came tumbling down
Oh, the rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the floods came up
And the wise man's house stood firm.
The foolish man built his house upon the sand
The foolish man built his house upon the sand
The foolish man built his house upon the sand
And the rain came tumbling down
Oh, the rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the floods came up
And the foolish man's house went "splat!"
